Description
“Italian Art in the Netherlands” was a retrospective of early Italian works of art from various Dutch collections. These were works of the 14th, 15th and early 16th centuries.
The exhibition was held from July 1 to October 1, 1934 on the top floor of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. It was the initiative of art dealer Jacques Goodsticker and museum director Cornelis Baard. More than 1,300 properties were listed from approximately 110 lenders. The number of visitors was over 21,000. 50 lectures were held during the exhibition. In addition, professors, doctors and students conducted excursions.
