Description
Abadie is a French cigarette paper factory that operated from 1866 to 1975. Joseph-Bertrand Abadi, the inventor of glueless cigarette paper, built his factory in the village of Theil-sur-Huisne. It had the necessary criteria: proximity to Paris, a river for the turbines to operate, a population ready to work, and no direct competitors.
In its heyday, in the 1910s, the factory employed 190 workers and produced approximately 800,000 kg of cigarette paper per year.
Nous ne fumons que le papier — We smoke only in Abadie paper (French).
