Description
John Mackintosh and his wife Violet opened a confectionery in Halifax, England in 1890. In search of uniqueness, for the first time, they mixed together brittle English toffee and soft American caramel. They named the product “Famous Toffee Mackintosh” and began to sell it successfully.
In 1988, the company merged with the Swiss Nestlé, but toffees are still sold today.
