Description

The poster shows a train leaving the Lötschberg Tunnel in the Alps, which connects the cantons of Bern and Valais.

The train is pulled by a formidable BLS Ae 6/8 electric locomotive. These were the first locomotives in Switzerland to be operated from a seated rather than standing position. They were in use on this line from 1926 to 1943.
