Poster The Seasons, Autumn

$35

Description

Autumn is represented as a beauty wearing a chrysanthemum wreath in her long brown hair. She sits on a tapestry of autumn plants and gathers grapes from an abundant vine.

“Four Seasons” of 1896 is Alphonse Mucha’s first and most popular series of posters. The idea of personifying the seasons was nothing new — examples can be found among the works of masters of the past. However, the nymph-like women created by Mukha’s brush against the background of the countryside breathed new life into the classic theme.

On four panels, the artist captures the moods of the seasons — innocent spring, hot summer, fertile autumn and frosty winter. Together they represent the harmonious cycle of nature.
