Description
The modern American drinking fountain was crafted independently by two men at much the same time; in 1909 by Luther Haws and Halsey Taylor in 1912.
In 1938 Halsey Taylor introduced the first electric, self-contained water cooler—much like the ones we use today—although these original water coolers also used heavy glass bottles, making them difficult to move and transport.
