Description
Here is depicted the “Battle of Nagashino” in which the Oda-Tokugawa Allied Forces and the Takeda Army confronted each other in 1575.
The military commander who holds a spear and looks far away is called “Hanpei Toda”, who is said to have belonged to the “Sakai Tadatsugu” corps that followed the Oda-Tokugawa Allied Forces.
The Oda arquebusiers, using tanegashima, decisively defeated the cavalry tactics of the Takeda, who lost two-thirds of their army. The battle is often cited as a turning point in Japanese warfare and the first “modern” Japanese battle.
