Description
This poster was created to advertise Shell’s Motor Spirit and Motor Oils. According to an article on the autobulbsdirect website – Shell Spirit was the endearing name to describe Shell’s brand of petrol in Britain from the late 19th Century to the 1930s. Shell’s branding was so successful that it became a household name. “Shell Spirit” was used for all its petrol and appeared on the side of cans as either “Motor Spirit” or “Aviation Spirit”.
